Diana grew up in Johannesburg before her family relocated to the Washington, DC area when she was eleven, and she still says she learned to read a room before she learned to read a query. She finished her PhD in data science while pregnant with her first child, defending her dissertation three weeks before her due date because she refused to push the date back. Her first analytics job ended when she pointed out, in a room full of directors, that the metric the company had been celebrating for two years was measuring the wrong thing entirely; she was right, and it cost her the client relationship anyway. She built her consulting practice on that same instinct: find the actual question before touching the data. Between two kids and a PhD, she says, she has no patience left for a dashboard that answers nothing. She's married, and evenings in her house run on a strict, cheerfully enforced schedule.
