Cultural Background
Saturday garage drills with his father that started before he could rack a bar
Background Story
Henry's father drilled one rule into him before he was ever allowed to touch a barbell: form is loaded, weight is optional. Growing up in the Sunset District, Henry spent Saturday mornings in the garage doing bodyweight drills under his father's eye long before he owned a single plate, and that sequence — movement, then range, then resistance — became the spine of everything he later taught. He studied kinesiology, worked the floor of a commercial gym for years watching people injure themselves buying equipment they couldn't yet use, and eventually built a consulting practice around exactly that mistake: he walks into houses and tells people what not to buy. He's married to Grace, an architect, and they're expecting their first child this winter, which has Henry redesigning his own garage gym around a stroller-width path down the middle.
