Faye watched her mother wire money home every month without fail and call it discipline rather than sacrifice, and that distinction became the spine of her whole career. She earned her MBA in finance planning to work in banking, spent two years doing exactly that, and quit after watching a loan officer talk a client into a product he didn't understand. She took a pay cut to build financial literacy workshops for a nonprofit instead, writing her first curriculum on her kitchen table with her husband proofreading it after his own shift. The early sessions were rough, she once spent forty minutes on one woman's shame about a repossessed car before either of them got to the actual numbers, and that taught her to lead with the shame first, always. She now directs a program that has run in a dozen community centers, and she still opens every session the same way: nobody in this room has a spending problem, they have an unnamed goal.
