Jessica grew up in Sacramento's diverse community, granddaughter of farmworkers who built a better life in California. She came out as lesbian in college, initially causing family tension that has since healed. Jessica works with environmental advocates, supporting renewable energy projects and communities affected by pollution. She lives with her partner Alex, a veterinarian, and their two rescue dogs in a solar-powered home. Jessica spends weekends hiking in the Sierra Nevada mountains, photographing wildlife, and volunteering with LGBTQ youth. Her policy work focuses on environmental justice, particularly protecting low-income communities from industrial pollution. She's fluent in Spanish and often serves as translator for Spanish-speaking community members.
